Fantasma

For over two decades, Fantasma has been the central protagonist of Haunt’s artwork. Every character, every environment, every creation—a fragment of a much greater universe, quietly taking shape across time. What the world has seen is merely the concept art. Echoes of Imagination

James Gillette, known as James Haunt.
Los Angeles visual artist.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, James developed his creative voice through hands-on experience in public art, learning early how to work at scale, adapt quickly, and execute under real-world constraints. These formative years instilled a deep respect for craft, discipline, and follow-through—values that continue to define his professional practice.

At 15, James expanded into digital design, mastering tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and integrating them into his traditional artwork. This hybrid approach led naturally into apparel design, branding, and illustration, allowing him to create cohesive visual systems across physical and digital platforms.

Following high school, James pursued independent design education and refined a visual language that aligned murals, fine art, and digital media into a single, recognizable style. This consistency and versatility attracted attention from major brands, collectors, and creative organizations.

In 2011, James Haunt LLC was founded, marking the beginning of a global career producing murals, licensed products, campaigns, and immersive experiences. Over the past decade, James has collaborated with leading brands and institutions with a focus on professionalism, communication, and delivery.

As his work evolved, so did his storytelling ambitions—leading to the creation of Fantasma, an original character and narrative universe that now serves as a foundation for character design, world-building, and cross-media development.

Today, James continues to expand into 3D design, AR/VR, and cinematic storytelling, applying his unique creative perspective to new tools and platforms. His work now sits at the intersection of art, technology, and narrative—designed to scale across film, games, animation, merchandise, and experiential environments.
